While some people do this, most people are checking their resumes very carefully and smoothening them for important details that should be included to get that potential job that they are eyeing for.

Yes, March and April are also a season of job hunting for most people, especially for young adults who are ready to face the challenge of the "real" world! Job Hunting Tips for Beginner Job Hunters

• Search for a job that you really like! It is very important to search for a job that you are more comfortable with because you already know how or what to do with it. It would be very helpful to you if your course in college or your skills and/or talent will land you on the required job. In this way, you can work progressively and perhaps build a career out of it.

• Invest on yourself. This may sound pathetic, but most companies would really look on an applicant's outside appearance. True story. The way on how you present yourself to an employer or to an interviewee can affect you on getting that desired job! Presenting yourself properly is like making yourself a favor. It's like selling a product to potential customers, however, this time, you are the product and the customer is the company that you are applying to. It would not hurt much if you had a haircut, shaved those showing chin-hairs for men, applied some make up for women, and clean your face before applying for a job. A shiny pair of shoes along with smart-looking clothes could also help you get that job!

• Make a winning resume! Resumes are always your ticket to fame or in this case, your ticket to enter a potential company. Your resume must reflect all the good work-related qualities that you have in order for you to be hired. Resumes are also considered your "other" product, aside from yourself, because companies would hire potential applicants that can suite the required qualifications for a certain job. Just imagine you are a salesman, your potential company is your buyer, and the product that you are selling is your resume. This is how applying for a job works!

• Be prepared for the job interview! If you apply for a job to a potential company, be sure that you were able to research all the necessary things that you need to know about the company that you are eyeing for. Once in a while, interviewees ask what do you know about the company or about the work or job that you are applying. It is always a big help if you loaded your gun first before going to any war, if you know what I mean.

• Always remember to do follow ups! This is the one quality most job hunters forget — to make any follow ups for the job that they have applied. I remember I did a follow up of my job application in my present company now because it has been more than a week before the human resource personnel finally saw my test and resume. I told the guy (the recruitment officer) that I already passed the resume and had taken the test a week ago. If I did not mention it to him/her that time, I wouldn't be in my company now for five years already! So, yeah.. it pays to do follow ups!

• Think a lot before signing up! Here is one thing most people who gets the job should and must also consider. If you finally get the job that you have applied, be sure to think twice, thrice, or more before signing in on that contract. You may ask yourself these questions: Is the place far or near from my place? Is the salary that I will receive from them enough to compensate my traveling expenses? daily allowance? food allowance? Will the company help me improve my skills and talents in the future? Are the company benefits okay with me? Is the workplace okay with me? and many more.

• Be ready on your first day of work! Of course when you get hire, you will be allowed by the HR department to finish all the work-related requirements that you will be needing before starting your work. But after you have done all of that, it's time to be ready for your first day of work! Always remember that "first impression lasts!" Even if it is not true in some situations, you can't take this statement for granted, especially when you are dealing with a company with strict policies on tardiness or late employees. Don't be late on your first day and perhaps on your first week... or better yet... never be late at all times! Listen to your immediate supervisor/s for instructions and orientations on what you are going to do in your job! Don't be a know-it-all person. No matter how you know your job is, your supervisor will always be your superior. Other people would take that for granted.

So there, I hope you gained something from here before you hit for the job the you really wanted! Job hunting could be hard for people who doesn't know the do's and don'ts of job hunting. But once you already know these job hunting tips for beginners, you can be sure to land on that most anticipated dream job ever! Good luck and happy job hunting!

Thanks for the tips! I am now ready to do follow-ups!
Good job!

^_^

hi there meynard! thanks for dropping by! good luck on your follow ups! ^_^

What are the pre-employment must haves? (sss?..) when filling out job application forms they always ask TIN, etc. This is my first job, should I have those to answer it? Thanks

@botchog: companies that you are applying with should understand that this is your first job.. so giving them a TIN or a tax identification number is not really possible as of the moment... the usual process, since this is your first job... when you are ALREADY hired, the company that you have chosen to be with MUST give you an application form for TIN and SSS (but you can get an SSS for yourself even before you get hired)... TIN is used to identify if you and your company are paying taxes! thanks for visiting!

i am lousy with doing followups hahahaha. it could have been a very useful skill when I was job hunting. nice post! very helpful ito sa mga naghahanap ng trabaho.
