| The movie premiere tickets! |
Not just once... but twice.. and there's still more! (me hopes...) Wahahaha! (long post ahead.. harharhar...)
And I know this blog entry is waaayy overdue! Tsk...
It was the second week of September when my blogger friend received an email through the contact page of our movie website MovieNews.Me that changed the course of the movie viewing experience of our blog. A representative from the 20th Century Fox (Philippines) informed us if we can go to the premiere night of the now showing film (as of this writing) "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" at Greenbelt 3 Cinema 1. Richie was not available and cannot make it on time because he lives somewhere in the south , which I will not disclose, and going to Makati in a rush hour from a far away place is impossible, especially if the movie was going to be shown on a 7:30 PM screening.
So I said yes! Why not? After all... it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience to attend a movie premiere, so I immediately grabbed the opportunity by texting the organizer of the said event. It was a race against time because traveling from Quezon City (way north) to Makati on a Thursday was really unpredictable. I remember it was raining that week... the rain did not stop even on a Thursday... but luckily.. when the office clock ticked at exactly 6:00 PM, time paced slowly as I ran quickly to hit the fastest jeepney ride in the metro to beat the rush hour.
The adventure begins
6:02 PM. I nearly slipped myself down the stairs from the login platform to the gate. I patiently waited for a jeepney ride that will fly me to my next destination, to another jeepney ride going to the city's metro train railway system (MRT). My legs ached. The jeepney stopped and I was off to another jeepney. It was now 6:05 PM.
I finally knew I rode the wrong jeepney ride when the driver told me that he has to drop me in a nearby supermarket to walk my way to the MRT. Gladly, the whole jeepney ride was to die for.. literally! It was the fastest ten minutes of jeepney ride.. evah! So the driver dropped me off to this supermarket and walk my way to the MRT. It was a long walk, indeed! The walk was so long I think I lost 5 pounds that moment! And then, I finally reached the MRT!
On the way to the premiere night venue!
A long queue of people buying train tickets welcomed me upon my arrival on the MRT station. I thought I heard a clock ticked and moved its hand. As I saw the train clock, it said, 6:20 PM, "aaahhh.. I'm just right on time...," I said to myself while slowly, the line of people was decreasing before my eyes. Alas! It was now my turn to buy a ticket for myself... "One please... Ayala Station," I said to the lovely teller on the other side of the glass panel. "It's 14 pesos, sir," arte nya lang! Hahaha!
I can now finally be at ease... well... that's what I believed in that very moment... because the train ride was so smooth and calm, I know, I can be at ease. I have nothing to do but to exchange text messages with my companions in the movie premiere. There's Rhea, a former officemate of mine, who left our office for greener pasture, whom eventually managed to have braces and bangs, and slim down a little, and who became my advance party spy during the event; and then, there's Ian, my long time friend of 15 years, whose taste with arts and literature is superb, he took up a fine arts degree in college because he followed his heart unlike mine who was supposed to be a would be writer student in college but eventually landed on a teaching degree because I needed a scholarship during that time, but writes as a profession right now instead of teaching, and having a hard time managing his financial expenses because of his insufficient income.
Anyways, moving on, Rhea texted that she was at the venue more than 30 minutes before the show starts at 7:30 PM, so Ian and I panicked. I was two train rides ahead of Ian. My heart started to jump as I finally reached the Ayala Station. I knew, a long walkathon was awaiting for me. To give you a better picture of the long walkathon, here's what I passed on through: from MRT Ayala Station, I passed on four big malls and department stores, a number of flights of escalator stairs, banged on hundreds of people, could be more that a thousand, and a long walk way to finally reach my destination. It was sooo tiring, I lost 10 pounds! True story.
The premiere begins
When Ian finally reached the Greenbelt 3, Cinema 1 venue of the movie premiere night, we are all tired and hungry. Luckily, there's free food! Hahaha... chicken fingelings, carbonara pasta, tacos, and choco mango crepe were the best! Below is the photo of the succulent choco mango crepe that we indulged that night, not just once, but twice! Hahaha! Rhea was the main culprit for bringing us the food that we needed to dig in! It was a movie premiere experience full of excitement and food as well! Hahaha!

The movie premiere adventures was just getting started. Nearly a week later, I received a text message from a different movie outfit asking if I can watch the movie premiere of "The Town" in a posh mall (Rockwell Power Plant Mall), sadly.. I turned it down because of the mall's inconvenient (for motorists and commuters like me) location. But, I swear... this was just the beginning of different movie premiere night adventures! Wahahaha! (thunders and lightings)
